More details to follow…

An amateur group founded in 1951, the Society has witnessed 75 years of fantastic achievements in astronomy and space exploration. The Society is open to anyone with an interest in Astronomy (including complete beginners who are more than welcome) and all tastes and experience levels are catered for.

Experts and experienced members are available to give new members help and guidance in understanding this most interesting scientific subject. We arrange a number of local observing evenings throughout the year. Additionally we run several observing events in rural dark sky areas.

Throughout the year we continue with our interesting and varied programme of lectures from professional and experienced amateur astronomers, plus informal meetings and discussions.

Why not come to a meeting and check out our warm and friendly atmosphere. Non members can attend a talk for a £2 visitors fee.

2025/26 Season (Started September 2025)

We will continue to hold our in-person meetings once again at the University of Wolverhampton, giving us access to larger rooms with tiered seating, so that everyone will get a clear view of the presentation! Non members can pay a visitors fee of just £2 per talk

All the meetings will be run as hybrid events, so you can choose whether to attend in person, or watch and participate online via Zoom. This also allows us to invite speakers from further afield to give us talks virtually for some of the events, but we hope to welcome as many speakers in person as possible.

We are delighted to be able to continue to offer the reduced membership fee of £10 for this season! If you would like to join for this season, all the details can be found on the membership page.

During the year we will also be arranging some in-person observing sessions, as well as other informal events so we hope we may see some of you this season. We will be updating information here as soon as the details are confirmed.

In the meantime, we wish you clear skies and a safe and healthy 2026.
